A vida no circo / Life on the circus
O Europa Cirkus chegou! O trabalho que será visto no picadeiro é antecedido por vários outros trabalhos: chegar, montar a lona, limpá-la no final da temporada, desmontá-la e partir; sentar-se no camarim, abrir o estojo de maquiagem, pintar a cara do palhaço e o rosto da equilibrista. Até que ponto estes afazeres se diferenciam de quem mora em casas e não em trailers de uma trupe circense? Os trabalhos são semelhantes e, ao mesmo tempo, específicos, diferentes, únicos. O drama humano se faz sob a lona, durante o espetáculo, mas se renova na preparação de mais uma noite de apresentação, no dia a dia as vezes difícil da vida errante dos artistas circenses, como bem registrou Ingmar Bergman em “Noites de Circo”.
The Europa Cirkus has arrived! The work we all see in the ring is preceded by several other tasks: arrival, tent mount, cleaning it at by end of the season, dismantle it and leave; sitting on the dressing room, open the makeup case, paint the clown’s face and the face of the tightrope lady. At which extent as those tasks different from those who live in houses and not on circus troupe trailers? The tasks are similar and at the same time specific, different, unique. The human drama is done under the tent, during the show, but is renewed on every preparation for another night presentation, on a daily, and sometimes difficult, wandering life of the circus performers, as well recorded in ‘Sawdust and Tinsel’ by filmmaker Ingmar Bergman.
